I’m going to send you an article about Larry and what he is up to. He’s been buying influence in Salem for decades and it goes far deeper than just the Salem Reporter.

Grrrr. Donated to our current Mayor. And sorry/not sorry I'm canceling my subscription to Salem Reporter. I had high hopes on their reporting but they have lost my trust.

Really makes me miss Salem Weekly. An alternative paper is so desperately needed in Salem but I don’t think it’s feasible in our current situation.

None of this is surprising but It really is such a sad state of affairs that our two options for mayor are a far-right funded business owner and a centrist liberal former cop.

I’m stuck being forced into a lesser evil vote, even on the local level.

Thanks for the reporting though!

Classic, anyone who isn't on board with the Left gets labeled Far Right

How would you describe someone who funnels millions to political candidates with documented far-right extremist positions on LGBTQ+ issues; election integrity; and more?

You're only reinforcing my point by calling those positions far right when they are actually more center.

Lol, ok. Being neck deep in election conspiracies; banning books you don’t understand; and advocating for christofascism is “centrist.” All those hate- and fear-filled far right assholes are simply chilling at the 50 yard line, right? Gtfo with that apologist fuckery.

Boy if you only saw what he has spent in the last decade+ funding trade high schools, non profits, low income housing and construction jobs for local contractors and business it’s mind blowing. We are talking 100’s of millions in donations in the last 20 years and your talking a few thousand for campaign donations this is laughable.

You should read the article before commenting. He’s spent more than $2 million trying to install far-right douche bags in various local, regional and state elected positions. Spare me the “job creator” horse shit. He makes more off of that work than anyone that works for him. His tax-deductible nonprofit giving is great, so it’s a shame that he essentially undoes that good work by fighting to elect assholes who are committed to corrupting and neglecting those parts of the community supported by his giving.

I did read the article that’s why I realized an asshole like you that does nothing for the community other then spews hate and division while guys like Tokarski, Epping etc build boys and girls clubs, family building blocks, Ctec’s, Willamette career academy’s, just to name a few not to mention science wings and gyms for various schools thru out Oregon. My family has benefited from years of electrical work on the many, many projects he has help funded and paved the way for. Does he do stuff for profit? Of course how else would he have the money to fund all of the philanthropic things he does. While you call anyone who votes differently, views things differently “right wing assholes” people like him are actually doing things to make lives in the community better and bring the community together not divide it. Besides how many candidates has he supported that actually won? He still continues doing what he does no matter who is in office. Boy what you could do if you turned all that hate into love and helped the community.

You call me an asshole and I’M the one with hate? I’m glad you are so fond of Tokarski and the millions he spends electing Republicans with abhorrent views on race, gender, LGBTQ+, banning books, supporting christofascism; and more. I’m content doing what I do to support our community through my journalism. I mean, if Larry wanted to kick me $2 million to do what I do - I wouldn’t say no. Why don’t you ask him and let me know?
